Applied Optimization, Inc. is an Engineering R & D firm that provides support to the Materials Laboratory and Sensors Directorate of the US Air Force Research Laboratory. The Materials Laboratory work encompasses the development of mathematical modeling for Laser-Material Interaction and it applies to laser additive manufacturing of aerospace components. The Sensors Directorate work is on Satellite Health Monitoring and Space Object Identification. The architecture and development of this work is aimed at a variety of applications in Space Control and Missile Defense. Applied Optimization also performs mathematical modeling and develops scientific software for highly challenging applications including: inverse analysis of visual spectrum and infrared signatures of space objects, self-management of distributed data fusion in sensor networks, computation of thermo-mechanical state during laser-material interaction, and morphing techniques for optimal pre-form shape design for jet engine casing rings.
